What Host Connection by .. discovery job are you using?

It is suggested to perform the following:

1. Check that the service WMI is working from Windows>Services?

2. From the Data Flow Probe go to command line prompt and check that the ports 135,  137, 138,139 and the port range TCP “1024 to 65535” is open. You can use the command: >telnet   IP  135

3. As per Microsoft troubleshooting guide in link http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa394603(v=vs.85).aspx Please check: where it explains what the ACCESS DENIED errors happen, just in case you are also getting error messages.

4. Test them from the Probe setup check credentials option. Does it work with the accounts? Hope this helps,

Is that host connection job required to discover Microsoft products and usage data? We are having problems discovery Microsoft products like Vision and Project and usage data for products like Outlook is just showing 0 for our assets.

Hi David,

for utilization you need to use the agent with software utilization plugin enabled.

Utilization data is then collected by the scanner.

We do have the agent with software utilization plugin enabled.  We get utilization data for other software but nothing from Microsoft products for some reason.

Hi David,

this sounds strange.
First you need to make sure that the SW is recognized. If not try to apply the latest DK (March has just been released).

If applications are recognized but still no utilization, then I would recommend to open a support ticket and share some sample scans showing the issue.

I know that this is working in general, because I've worked with a customer on this topic recently...
(Visio and Project was updated in the master SAI)
