Comparison former DDMi Functions vs. UCMDB capabilities

Hi all,

do you have any documentation which compares former DDMI functions like Device Manager (i.e. snmp ping/agent ping) to any available functions within UCMDB?

You have a comparison of former DDMI attributes to UCMDB attributes in the hp_man_UCMDB_10.01_DDMI_UnivDiscMigration_pdf.pdf-file (starting page 38).

Anything available?

Many Thanks.

Best regards,

Marcus

  • Tools like Device Manager were based off the Discovery Engine for DDMI. The option to ping devices from the tool are not the same as you would use in UD. For example, for agent ping if you wanted to test the agent, you would need to go into UCMDB UI and navigate your way into Data Flow Management > Data Flow Probe Setup > Default Domain > Credentials > Universal Discovery Protocol. From here you could right click on the defined credentials select the credential test option and enter the IP Address of a target. This would be equivalent to doing an agent ping in Device Manager of DDMI. For Ping option, I am not aware of any interface to the probe that would allow you to ping as we would see in Device Manager.

I am not aware of any doc that would compare the two tools options

  • We don’t have the similar/ dedicated function in UCMDB like DDMI’s device manager, port manager and attribute manager.
