Implementing a CMDB "early on" - help choosing one, with complex requirements

Hi everyone, long time lurker, first time poster, as it sometimes happens.

I've been with my current company for about 1.5 years and am their first sysadmin who tries to get things into the direction of doing things per protocol and more professionally. We're very small (< 40 people), so we have our hosting sourced out at an external hoster, in the form of a managed server. This server is administered using ISPconfig and runs nginx.

I'm now looking to implement a CMDB, while everything that has to be entered is still manageable. I have been looking and testing the demos of i-doit and itop (the community versions) and I feel like they would both work for my purposes.

The issue I'm having is that both don't like to work with nginx (i-doit requires .htaccess support which nginx lacks, and for itop, there is a wiki entry for the nginx configuration, but I have not been able to get it to work for the life of me).

Now my question would be: Can you recommend a CMDB that likes to play with nginx and would fit into our IT budget of exactly $0 per year?

Thanks in advance!
