And with some tweeaking I got this code to save a view in the database, but it is not visible in Molding Studio >> Resources >> Views:

viewName = record.getPropertyValue("name")

## creating a new viewService
(ViewService, viewService) = MyUcmdbService.getViewService()
viewService = MyUcmdbService.getViewService()

## create new view definition
newView = viewService.getFactory().createViewWithFoldingDefinition(viewName)
newView.withDescription("This is the view for " +viewName);
newView.withQueryName("q_bizapp_op")

## Get the folding definition of the view
definition = newView.foldingDefinition()

## Getting a factory of view nodes
myFactory = definition.nodesFactory()

## Creating the view definition:
definition.addRoot(myFactory.createQueryNodeBasedFDN("business_application")).withQueryNodeName('business_application')

## saving view to CMDB root folder
saveResult = viewService.saveView(newView)

The method saveView(newView) does not return anything but do create an entry in the database (which is similar to other view made in the CMDB local client) 

What I'm missing?

Right! In this ongoing discussion - with myself - I have now research me to that beside creating the view I shall create a query (which I thought I did in the viewDefinition - nope, I did not!)

So I found this pretty simple method @ https://docs.microfocus.com/UCMDB/11.0/ucmdb-docs/docs/eng/APIs/UCMDB_JavaAPI/com/hp/ucmdb/api/topology/QueryManagementService.html#saveQuery-java.lang.String-

which I implemented in the code as this 

saveQueryResult = QueryManagementService.saveQuery(newQueryDefinition);

saveQuery takes only one argument - the query definition - but when runing the code I got following error:

TypeError: saveQuery(): expected 2 args; got 1

I'm mystified: what other arg I'm missing?

The code for building the query:

newQueryService = MyUcmdbService.getTopologyQueryService();
newQueryFactory = newQueryService.getFactory();
queryName = "MetaPol";
newQueryDefinition = newQueryFactory.createQueryDefinition(queryName);
mainCi = newQueryDefinition.addNode('business_application').ofType('business_application').queryProperty("display_label")
mainCi.queryProperty("global_id"); # Make attribute available for query result
mainCi.queryProperty("name"); # Make attribute available for query result
mainCi.queryProperty("rp_status"); # Make attribute available for query result

Anyone solved this and would like to share the solution?

Hi Adam,

From what you are inquiring, might be best to open a Support case in order to schedule a WebEx session to go over what you have, and be able to best suggest what changes can be applied or modified to the current query made.

Thank for the links :)  I have worked with the REST API and found it easy to use; in the work at hand I'm using the Jython way into the API, and with som Java examples I have managed to get around some of the code

What I really, really would like to have was a link to API developers so when I'm banging my head into a wall with ie. the saveQuery-method it would be possible to ask for a working example - this is a pipe dream, I know.
