Be able to add or edit properties to CIs from CMS UI

Hello team,

it will be very interesting if we add the capability to CMS UI to be able to add new or edit all the properties of a CI directly from CMS UI. (from CI properties and also from Invetory cards tables).

for example, from this view:

cms_properties.JPG

and also, from here:

Best regards

  • Hello Ivan,

    you are absolutely right.

Today you have to set every attribute in the CIT as browser editable. Especially in terms of updates a customer is usually not willing to change every attribute on every CIT for every update. Of course you can achieve the editable setting with some scripting but it is not very nice.

Furthermore roles are missing for CIT attribute editing.

It would be great if R&D would improve the editing functionality.

    Best regards,

  • Hello,

indeed it is possible somehow now, but it is one of the stopper preventing us from using CMS UI widely. Simply we need to show CI Properties showing ALL attributes with possibility to CHANGE their value whenever needed. (As it is possible in good old Java GUI). This CI Properties could be "available" to users based on their roles (definitely for admins, sysadmins, power users etc.).

PS: Everybody talks about CMS UI - but still it is baby, not mature enough to be widely used on enterprise scale.... gues why is it so...

  • Dear Ignacio,

Your first wish (edit the "Properties") is already granted  - that is possible today.

In CIT manager, each CIT attribute has the flags "CMS Browser Visible" and "CMS Browser Editable".
If you mark the "Editable" checkbox, then the attribute should become editable also in the CMS UI "Edit" mode.
