Out of the box content on github

Hello community,

today when we identify an error in the out of the box content we often just fix the issue without creating an incodent on the support page. Even with a support ticket it is often very hard to explain the issue to the support team. And even harder to get it fixed in the next release.

Because of that I would really like to be able to send pull requests directly to R&D with some explaination why the code should be updated.

Beside the integration code i could imagine to share the ucmdb and probe code as well. Today I decompile the code from time to time to see e.g. if a setting can influence a certain behaviour.

Best regards,

Michael

  • Thank you for sharing your idea! It’s open for comments and kudos, and we’re looking forward to input from the community. Once there is enough community traction, it will be further reviewed by the product team.
  • I think it should even be possible to fix issues e.g. in Java adapters. Today we just decompile the adapters and recompile them. Even from support you can get a changed Jar version.

As a starting point I would really like to see at least the OOTB Jython content on some versioning tool like github.

  • I see this valid and usable only for the Content Pack resources which are already available in the UI.

  • Hi

In addition to above it would be nice if we as a customer could share our code changes on specific CP or packages with other customers, allowing both R&D and customer alike to benefit from others work, building a stronger community around UCMDB.

    Thanks

    Glen
