Problem:

We are upgrading the server which hosts Modernization Workbench from Oracle 10g to Oracle 11g.  We are wondering if there are any compatibility issues between the new Oracle version and Modernization Workbench.

Resolution:

Modernization Workbench supports both Oracle 10g and Oracle 11g.  However, when converting from 10g to 11g, a potential issue resides with case sensitivity of the database usernames used to access Workspaces.

During the generation of the RMWUSER usernames from the installation script, they are given uppercase letters. If the user had used lowercase names to create the RWP files and access the workspaces on the older version , the user will need to change the RWP file information to include uppercase names.  This can be done by using the Build New Connection feature in MW to build a new version of the RWP file.

Another option would be to work with the DBA and turn off case sensitivity on the 11g version. This can be done by altering the table using the following command:

ALTER SYSTEM SET SEC_CASE_SENSITIVE_LOGON = FALSE;
