Problem:

When Modernization Workbench hot fixes are delivered, any fixes for Windows 7 or 64 bit operating systems should be installed from a file called "HotFixn-en-silent", where n is the hot fix number to be installed.  What is the process to successfully install the hot fix?

Resolution:

To successfully install Modernization Workbench hot fixes in silent mode,

1.  Make sure Modernization Workbench is not running, and the BRP is not running against the repository.

2.  Copy the hot fix install files on to the hard drive of the PC.

3.  Install the fix from the file "HotFixn-en-silent" by double clicking on it.

4.  Open the Windows Task Manager on the PC

5.  Open the processes tab, and monitor a process called "HotFixn-en-silent * 32"

6.  When the process has finished, configure the Modernization Workbench tool..
      - Open the Modernization Workbench Administrator tool.
      - From the ADMINISTER menu, choose CONFIGURE WORKBENCH
      - In the dialogue window displayed, check the required options and click OK

7.  If stated in the hot fix ReadMe documentation, upgrade the workspace(s)
     - Open the Modernization Workbench Administrator tool.
     - From the ADMINISTER menu, choose UPGRADE WORKSPACE
     - In the dialogue window displayed, select the ".RWP" file for the required workspace, and click OPEN.
     - The tool will display a message when the workspace has been successfully upgraded.

8.  When all of these steps have been completed without error, the hot fix will have been successfully installed.
