In a client-server environment, everytime a workspace is opened on different client machines, Enterprise Analyzer prompts for the workspace to be upgraded. When the upgrade is performed on a particular client install, the error message "Downgrade from version Panther .64 to version Panther .52 is not supported" is displayed. What could be the cause of this and how can it be avoided?
The problem is that the server and ALL of the clients are using different versions of the product.
For example, the server installation may be on hot fix 2, one or more client installations are on hot fix 2, but one rogue client install is still on hot fix 1.
The solution is to make sure the server installation and ALL of the client installations are upgraded to the same level of product (for example all on hot fix 2).
Then upgrade the workspace on the server machine ONCE only.
There is no need to upgrade the workspace from any of the client installations.
