The daemon exits because of an error

This article resolves situations in which when trying to start the daemon an error occurs and the daemon exits.

Problem:

When the daemon is started from the Enterprise View host menu, it fails with the following error:

Starting daemon 1 ... 
OCI_ERROR: sqlrc=-1 
Daemon 1 is already started.
Daemon exited because of error.
Error starting Daemon 1.

Resolution:

As the message suggests, the cause of the error might be that the daemon has already been started. To verify this, please use the following command (case sensitive):

ps -Af | grep KbY

This will list the active daemons and the database schemas for which they have been started.
