ALM Octane plugin for VS Code

In the admhelp document, we could see that the plugin is available for ‘Microsoft Visual Studio’ whereas our customers/users are using ‘VS Code’ for automation which is a lighter version as compared to Visual Studio and unfortunately this IDE is not supported by Octane.

https://admhelp.microfocus.com/octane/en/CP10/Online/Content/UserGuide/how-work-in-VS.htm

Hence as per user requirement, please let us know if it is possible to provide us the Octane plugin compatible for VS Code IDE.

Hello,

The idea to bring Octane to VS Code is good as VS Code is widely used in the most recent web development and mobile frameworks independent of the language.

One way to do it with minimum development effort and at the same time reach other large used editors such as vim, atom and sublime is to create kind of octane CLI to use on the development project folder.

The CLI could give the functionality to embed octane tests to the dev project. Examples and ideas of use cases:

1) octane init - could initialize the project to work with tests. It could create the tests project folders depending on the choosen testing framework (gradle, protractor, junit, leanft, jasmine, etc). It could separate the unit tests, integration tests, gui tests.

2) octane login - could connect the dev project to the octane workspace

3) octane download - could download tests from octane to the dev project

4) octane setbacklogitem - could set which backlog item the devtester is working on to automatic relate in octane

This is some ideas.

This functionality would enforce the shift left and the "Test before Implement" mentality with octane. The devtester would start to think in quality at the very begining of the dev project.

Regards,

Aldo

@yael I don't know if the above idea of octane CLI could raise a new idea thread or it can used address the idea of a VS Code plugin. Please let me know what you think.

@slbruce perhaps you can answer this one?

VS Code is now used more frequently in our dev projects. It would be great to have the Octane integration for it.
