Need Schema/Tablespace info for ALM Octane

Jump to solution

Hello All,

I am trying to install Octane Trail freshly, and wanted to setup DB for this Octane App server. Can some one please help me with the doc on how to create a schema and tablesapce  in oracle DB for this Octane along with the user permissions.  I know that these schemas gets automatically created from the setup in ALM, but not sure how this works for Octane.  I will be using Oracle DB for this Setup

Thanks in advance

Hi Veeru,

Octane will need to Schemas to run successfully.

One schema is the "site" schema where we store high level infstracture data.

and the other is the initial "shared space" schema where we store the actual data.  After the initial shared space schema is created you can create additional ones from the UI.

in terms of actually creating the schemas, Octane offers two options which are similar to ALM.

You can give Octane a user which have enough permissions and Octane will create the schema and all needed data structures automatically by using the "CREATE_NEW" option,  or precreate the schemas and let Octane just fill them with the relevant structures using the "FILL_EXISTING" option.

both options are detailed in our installation guide which can be found here:
