ALM automail - change "FROM" email address in mail

Hello All,

I see that when user got the email when the defect is open. The From email address and To email address both are same.
I believe the "FROM" email address should be the user email who change the defect status to Open.
what is the way to fix this and user will be received email with the correct "FROM" user' email address.

Is there any way to change this settings so that the FROM email address will be the person who actually did the changes in ALM.

Hello Ramesh.

About your request, please take a look to following steps that may help you:

#1 Use SMTP_ADMIN_MAIL parameter for defect automatic email
Usage
: Add it to DATACONST table of each project. This works for QC 10, ALM 11 and 11.5x.
Detail steps: https://softwaresupport.softwaregrp.com/group/softwaresupport/search-result/-/facetsearch/document/KM198189

What happens if a FROM_EMAIL_ADDRESS does not exist in the project's DATACONST table?
~ In ALM 11, the "TDUser" is used in its place. The problem here with most customers is that "
TDUser@company.com" email address is restricted by SMTP server configuration thus no defect automail will be sent through SMTP server.
~ In ALM 11.5x, the "TDUser" is no longer used. Instead "Null" is used; it uses the email address of the currently-logged-in user as the sender address.

Note:
Starting in ALM 11 and 11.5x, you can add it to the Site Administrator >> Site Config tab. It only changes sender's email of the email notification triggered by the "Forgot Password" link in the ALM Login window.

#2 Use SMTP_ADMIN_MAIL parameter for all emails
Starting in ALM 11 SP3 , SMTP_ADMIN_MAIL parameter is instroduced to Site Administrator >> Site Config tab but undocumentedly.
It works only when SMTP_AUTHENTICATION is enabled.
This email will be used in all outgoing emails (including automatic and manual).
We only give this information to customer who asks for it.

In ALM 12, we will give two options:
1) Add SMTP_ADMIN_MAIL parameter globally in Site Administrator >> Site Config tab
2) Insert SMTP_ADMIN_MAIL parameter into DATACONST table of the project
When both options are used, Project-specific "SMTP_ADMIN_MAIL" parameter has higher priority than Site-specific "SMTP_ADMIN_MAIL" parameter.

Hope this helps.
