Cannot add new columns to the Manual Runner Test Set

Hi,

I am trying to add new columns to the Manual Runner Test Set window. However i haven't received any success yet.

I have added multiple user fields however it doesn't appear in the Manual runner.

Only the following columns appear:-

- Step Name

- Status

- Execution Date

- Execution Time

I would request help from anyone who could help me out to resolve this issue.

I have attached the screenshot for the Manual Runner window where i want to add a new column.

Hi,

i had the same issue last week.

Is it just for some User groups or for all groups?

I had this issue in a userdefined group. After i deleted the group and set up a new one it worked again.

I don't know what was the reason for it but it helped....

It doesn't appear to be in user defined group and i cannot delete the groups.

See the screen attached.

Those groups in your screen shot are the Product / System delivered groups and cannot be modified. The ALM administrator should create user groups for the project which will then allow you to make changes.

Prasunjit,

Exactly where did you add the user defined fields, and what version of QC are you using?

In v11, I have added user defined fields to the Test Steps entity and they appear in the Manual Runner as a new column in the Step display.

Hi Trudy,

I am using version 11 and added the user fields in the 'Test Steps' entity. I think administrative rights may be preventing me to add columns to manual runner step details window.

Prasunjit,

I tried this on a project that does not have version control enabled, and I am logged in as a TDAdmin for the project.  We are using just the built-in QC user groups, and have no special customizations for data hiding.

Go to Tools > Customize > Project Entities > Test Step > User Fields

Click New Field (not New Memo Field)

I left it set with all the default options (Type = String, Length = 40, nothing check-marked)

Click Save

Click OK

Click Return

Select Minor Change radio button

Click OK

Go To Test Lab module

Create a new folder

In that folder create a new test set

In that test set add a test case

Highlight that test instance and select Run With Manual Runner

Click Begin Run

See new user defined field displayed as a column in the Step Display.

If you are not seeing your new fields, consider if Data Hiding is activated for the user group, or if Version Control is affecting it, or if workflow customizations are affecting it.  Check if the new field display when you look at test case design steps in the Test Plan module.  Are you starting new Runs of test instances in the lab or continuing pre-existing runs.  The fields should be visible in both.
