Error Message - The Object is Locked by : Genilogix eSignature

Hello All,

 

One of my client is facing an issue. Whenever he is trying to move some set of particular script from one folder to other he is getting error as "The Object is Locked by : Genilogix eSignature"

Could anyone help me with thi error. Why is this occuring and how to get past it.

Object locks can usually happen if the same object (test script or defects etc) were in use by another user at same time.It usually gets cleared in a set interval of time.You can also clear the lock if you have site admin  or backend access.You can go to the QC project schema where the issue is and look for the table locks.You can use Delete from locks where lk_user =' ' if it was locked by a user or you can use a delete on the specific entity like lk_object or lk_id etc.

But there is one more doubt. Although bein an ADMIN, i didnt see any option to unlock the scripts from the front end. Cant the scripts be unlocked from front end.

Yes it can be unlocked from Site Admin.

 

Go to Site Admin -> Site Projects -> Click on project name in which you are facing issue -> Expnad it.

Look for table Locks and there you can run query to remove lock.

 

From QC user interface, it is not possible.

Venkat. Do you have idea how much time will take to release the lock by ALM itself? Is it a fixed set of interval?

Hi Pranav,

The <LOCK_TIMEOUT> parameter in the Site Configuration tab of SIteAdmin defines the maximum number of hours that Quality Center objects can remain locked after which, the lock is removed. By default, the value is set to 10 hours.

Hello  MIMO14,

Its a workflow lock.

I would suggest you not to delete the lock as a workflow and a signature might be tied to it.

The best way is to see if the workflow can free up the entity for use or not. If yes, then change the entity state and it should be available for use. 

If not, then you need to reach out the team that developed the workflow for you and make changes to the workflow to accomadate your need. 

All workflow locks have meaning and are placed for specific reasons.
