File Repository Size Query

Hi there,

When I check the attach folder by running the query below, it returns a value of 12737251383 bytes (11.9GB), but when I navigate to the folder location on the NAS and manually check the properties, the total file repository size is only 11.4GB.

SELECT SUM(CAST(SRLF_SIZE AS NUMBER))
FROM TDCBPO_NG_REL_2_QC11.SMART_REPOSITORY_LOGICAL_FILE
WHERE SRLF_PARENT_PATH LIKE '%.\attach\%'

How can this be?

Thanks

Hello,

We know there could be some mistmatch information between DB and the repository, I haven't tested the query you provided but I will try to run it in one of my projects.

Also remember that when you delete items in the project, ALM still keep those files until the cleaning job runs.

One alternative is to run the "Align Repository" from the site admin, this option will sync the information from your repository with the database, of course before doing this the best is to do a backup.

Ariel, thanks for your reply.

Do you have any more details on the frequency and duration of the clean-up job you mention. Does this happen weekly at a specific time?

Thanks

The cleanup job runs on a schedule that is configurable. If you have not specifically created Site Configuration parameters for it, then the default is to run the job on a 7-day cycle for each project. There is no way to tell when the job will run for a specific project, but you can promote the repository cleanup to happen sooner, as a one-time event.

Take a look at this thread.

Another thing that I have observed is that when the files are deleted from project, DB and Repository space are not free'ed.
It keeps on growing and does not show the actual size even though the file is deleted and the space is empty.
You need to perform a reindexing or some time even a GUI copy of the project to show the actual size.
