Migrating Data From 8.2 to 11

We have a new QC 11 installation and an old QC 8.2 installation.  What do we need to do to migrate our 8.2 data to the new 11.0 sysgtem ?

Thanks,

Barry

A direct migration from v8.2 to v11 is not supported.  The earliest release for which direct migration is supported is v9.2.  You will need to upgrade your 8.2 system to 9.2 first, then you can migrate the data to the v11 system and upgrade it.

I recommend that you contact HP support directly for assistance with this.

Thanks fo rthe response. Is this true for only data as well ?  We are not upgrading our QC 8.2 installation to 11.  We only want to migrate the data form 8.2 to 11.

Thanks

I believe it is true for only data.  For one thing, in v11 the Repository must be stored in the file system, not the database, and it must be in that configuration before you can upgrade the data to v11.  For another, there have been changes made in the database schemas with each version of QC.  I believe that v11 cannot upgrade the schemas unless they are at least in conformance with v9.2.

Again, you could double check by contacting HP support directly.
