That's true ... now I have asked DBAs to take a look into this as I don't want to create incosistencies here.

Thanks all.

I can't say that it works the same in all installations, but in my current main customer installation, the last versions of QC always saved and displayed the user name in lower case letters in the individual project databases.

For us, the problem with upper case letter only appeared in the Site Admin database. And the SQL command I indicated solved that problem at least for the moment, until project administrators added new user names with upper case letters. A trigger on the Site Admin DB might have solved that problem.

Of course, this may differ between installations due to backend DB settings.

Jan, you are right.
I am speaking nonsenses :-(.
I have check it in version HPQC 9.0 and in HPQC 10 and it is really as you said. The projects saves always usernames in lowercase. so the problem is just in the site admin database.

Most likely since the link requires you to have a SAID for QC attached to your account.

I do have a valid SAID attached to my account, and the link results in "page cannot be displayed" message from the HP Support site. I tried looking up "rename a user in quality center" and searching by the KM number against all QC versions and OS, and got nothing.

here it is...

note that this was designed for version 9, so any new tables / columns that were recently added in ALM 11 wont be fixed by this utility (eg. the Version control VC tables):
