Monitoring Hyper-V Virtual Machines

What options do I have for monitoring hyper-v virtual servers if I don't
use the "App manager for Hyper-v Module"? do I have to install the agent
on each virtual server to get basic monitoring of disk memory etc? we
intend to move to App manager 9.1

many thanks for any feedback

Re: Monitoring Hyper-V Virtual Machines

If you mean monitoring the "guests" on a Hyper-V server then you can

1) Install the agent on the guest
2) Use Hyper-V module
3) Do both 1 & 2
4) Use the Agentless module

You can also write your own custom KS(s), but one of the above options
would provide a more comprehensive solution.

In addition to Andy suggestion, You can also do any one of the
following:
1. If you're installing NetIQ agents on each machine, you can use the
WinOS WMICounter KS to retrieve the basic metrics. E.g. If you wanted to
monitor the logical disk free space, use "Win32_LogicalDisk" class along
with "freespace" property.
2. You can use "AppManager for NetworkDevice" module to monitor the
virtual machine remotely by enabling SNMP services.
