Recently, we released Micro Focus Unified Functional Testing (UFT) 14.50. In this version, UFT expands its technology-rich capabilities further with parallel execution for web.

This breakthrough in parallel testing ultimately accelerates test execution time across multiple web browsers, thereby reducing the complexity of your test processes while improving time-to-value.

Note: Web parallel execution is available in “tech preview” for UFT 14.50.

Running web tests in parallel

UFT’s command line interface (CLI) enables you to speed up your tests by running up to four tests in parallel. Each web test consumes a single concurrent license and requires a concurrent license server to test in parallel.

Our CLI provides the power and versatility to use either (1) raw commands or (2) JSON templates.

  1. Raw commands: Run a single test on multiple environments simultaneously using raw commands. This is the preferred ad-hoc process. See the UFT Help section for a list of all commands.
  2. JSON templates: Run multiple tests on multiple environments simultaneously using a configurable JSON file. This is the flexible, less taxing option for recurring tests.
JSON templates also allow you to run each test on a combination of both web and mobile environments.

For more details, see run parallel web and mobile tests.

Parallel execution on multiple environments from Jenkins

Use our Jenkins plug-in to run a series of sequential web or mobile tests on multiple environments in parallel.

The “UFT parallel running mode” option in Jenkins lets you define one or more environments for executing each set of tests using the UI configuration dialogs.

Run results for parallel tests now displays results for all tests run. For example:UFT-Parallel-Run-Results.png

Official support for mobile parallel execution

In our previous release of UFT 14.03, we introduced parallel execution for mobile testing in “tech preview” mode. Parallel execution for mobile testing is now fully supported in this version.
