We are pleased to announce the general availability of the ALM Octane Plugin for Micro Focus Release Control 6.2.3. This powerful integration enables Micro Focus Release Control to seamlessly integrate with Micro Focus ALM Octane, the market leading end to end Agile and DevOps delivery platform.

Release Control enables customers to plan, track and audit release processes across the entire software development lifecycle, from inbound business requests to operational change and application deployments. Release Control provides a powerful and flexible process framework, allowing customers to implement best practice release processes while seamlessly integrating to the underlying artifacts and objects commonly involved in the release process, including native integration to Micro Focus Deployment Automation, a best in class application and configuration automation solution.

ALM Octane is a comprehensive solution that accelerates Agile and DevOps transformations for high-quality application delivery at enterprise scale whilst supporting the reuse of existing investments. The flexible lifecycle management platform integrates with Micro Focus, open source and third-party solutions to support planning, build analytics, continuous quality, end to end traceability, and rich reporting.

The integration of these the two products ensures visibility, management, control and audit compliance across the entire SDLC, across multiple delivery platforms including mainframe, distributed and mobile, for customers running waterfall, agile or any hybrid methodology.

The ALM Octane Plugin enables users to create, update and associate Work Items between ALM Octane and Release Control.

The Use Cases currently supported are:

  • Search and Register ALM Octane Work Items (Requirement, Epic, Feature, Story, Defect, Quality Story) with Release Package requests
  • Use a Release Package task to update ALM Octane Work Items as part of the execution of a Package.

 

What does it mean for Release Control users?

Release Control users can now take advantage of the ability to search, register, create, and update Octane Work Items (Requirement, Epic, Feature, Story, Defect, Quality Story) with a Release Package in Release Control, allowing end to end integration across the entire SDLC where ALM Octane is used to manage and track Agile story definition and execution. Utilizing existing plugins for Atlassian Jira® and Micro Focus Solutions Business Manager allows a single point of visibility, control and execution for organizations utilizing all three market-leading Agile solutions,

What does it mean for ALM Octane users?

ALM Octane users can now fully govern and manage end to end application releases and leverage the market leading release governance orchestration solution provided by Micro Focus Release Control. The integrated solution enables ALM Octane users to undertake full DevOps toolchain orchestration and enterprise grade release governance, offering insight, visibility, control and audit across the SDLC. The integration of ALM Octane, Release Control and its end to end tool-chain Orchestration capabilities with solutions like Micro Focus Deployment Automation and Micro Focus Silk Central, Atlassian Jira and ServiceNow ensures that all aspects of the end to end software delivery lifecycle and application delivery value stream are seamlessly aligned.
