We’re pleased to announce the availability of ALM Octane 12.6 CP10, the latest release of our comprehensive Enterprise DevOps platform for high-quality Agile application delivery.
ALM Octane 12.6 CP10 includes a wide range of new features, enhancements, and bug fixes—most of which were made in direct response to suggestions from our customers.
Primary Features and Benefits
ENTERPRISE READINESS – Increased scalability and flexibility enables your organization to provide high-quality applications continuously. New capabilities include the ability to move a defect from one workspace to another within the same shared space (see the image below). Other features include the view of the last login time of a user at a tenant level, and a cluster’s Health View for the admin. This release also includes support for OData version 4.0.
AGILE & REQUIREMENTS – In our continuous effort to help businesses easily gather, manage, share, and track the needs of the business through Agile delivery of applications, Octane 12.6 CP10 offers enhancements such as using the Release Objectives functionality to define and track your high-level goals when you plan an application release (see the image below).
Other new features include:
- Using pre-defined or user-defined calendars to create events during which users are not available to work on their backlogs.
- Converting backlog items from one entity type to another, such as a Feature into User Story.
- Connecting Requirements to User Stories and Epics.
QUALITY – Our main objective is to ensure Quality with speed, in order to help organizations seamlessly and quickly launch their products to market. On this release we have improved the Add Test to Test Suite dialog box. You can now select, and add multiple tests to the test suite, choose columns, sort the grid, and search tests. You can also access test assignment rules directly from the Settings menu.
As part of Octane’s ability to directly trigger runs of various automated test types and test frameworks, we have added support for the Gradle and Protractor frameworks.
Other capabilities include the ability to view previous runs for automated Gherkin tests and a facility to define relationships for Quality Stories to various test entities.
SYNCHRONIZER & MICRO FOCUS CONNECT – We have significantly simplified Synchronizer installation and configuration. Synchronization between ALM Octane and ALM or Jira can now be performed directly, without requiring an Integration Bridge. Synchronizer now provides full support for the latest version of Jira 8 and ALM 12.6 Patch 1.
If ALM Octane is synchronized with a third-party application such as Jira, and you manage your backlog outside of ALM Octane, you can now view commit details for your backlog items in ALM Octane.
Micro Focus Connect Core has been released lately as an additional synchronization solution between Octane, and other Micro Focus products across the software development/DevOps lifecycle.

DEVOPS PIPELINES – In order to improve the automation steps in your software delivery, we have provided these enhancements:
- Backlog module: The Automation Coverage widget shows how much of a backlog item’s code (feature, user story, quality story, defect) is covered by automated tests in different pipelines.
- Team Foundation Server: TFS 2018 is now supported as a CI server.
DEVSECOPS – In our continuing efforts to help you integrate security best practices into your systems, we now offer SonarQube Vulnerabilities integration with ALM Octane, enabling you to identify vulnerabilities in your application delivery process. And that’s in addition to our existing Fortify support.
USABILITY – To help ensure the exceptional end user experience that you have come to expect from our products and systems, ALM Octane 12.6 CP10 includes these new capabilities: creating test assignment rules directly from the Settings menu, display percentage values alongside absolute values, and receiving a warning when restoring a manual test script.
