We’re pleased to announce the availability of PPM 9.62, the latest release of our Project and Portfolio Management solution for planning and managing your project and portfolio initiatives, and for tracking investments throughout the lifecycle process.

What’s New

This release includes many significant enhancements and rounds out recently released features like adding the Roadmap tab to the existing Portfolio views along with updates to the PPM Chatbot released in 9.60.

Primary Features and Benefits

The PPM 9.62 release builds on our PPM strategy from the past couple of years, which focuses on improving portfolio management capabilities, making team and resource management easier than ever, enabling Enterprise Agile through smart connections, and ensuring the platform and UI are user-friendly and modernized. Following emerging trends in the PPM space, we have added a Team Management Dashboard and Additionally, we’ve improved core functionality in several modules, including Project, Project, Resource, Time and Demand Management modules. These are only a few highlights from this release—you can read about other features included in 9.62 here.

Key Features in PPM 9.6

In addition to viewing all backlog items on a portfolio level in a hierarchical, list, and board view, we added the ability to display your backlog items in a Roadmap view. The Roadmap shows you which projects and proposals you’re focused on for a given time period and see which strategic themes and initiatives they support. Hovering over an item in the Roadmap view gives you an overview of the duration, progress, and milestones of the projects in that portfolio.

You can also now edit items displayed in the plain list view or on a drag-and-drop Kanban board, allowing you to make changes quickly without opening the details page.

There’s a new portlet type in the 9.62 release called the Self-Service Portlet which can be used in the Portfolio module. This portlet gives the end user full flexibility to define what data to present and how it is presented without engaging IT resources to create a data source or entering any code.

Other Team Management enhancements include the ability to show disabled teams when needed as well as a new confirmation pop up when adding resources that are already assigned to other teams, avoiding double-counting.

We released the first iteration of the PPM Chatbot that can be added to Microsoft Teams 9.60, allowing you to quickly add a risk or check the status of a project straight from Teams. After asking our customers for input about which functionality to add, we heard back that many customers would like to have the ability to proactively send messages or reminders via Chatbot. In 9.62, we added this use-case, so you can now use the PPM Chatbot to send proactive notifications. For example, you can use PPM Chatbot to send a reminder every Friday to users who haven’t yet submitted their timesheets.

We also added the ability to customize the welcome sentence that Chatbot uses and added the ability to action workflow steps in Chatbot, including making approval decisions or adding notes without even opening a browser.

All these new features don’t mean we’re neglecting the core of the PPM product. We’re constantly making improvements, and this release is no exception. We’ve enhanced our Time Management module to show total effort in the My Time Sheets portlet, which enables you to view the cumulative hours spent on the line item without navigating back to the details page. You can also now use a Rest API to get the calendar of a certain resource, to search for a given type of work items, or to cancel an unsubmitted timesheet automatically.

Within PPM’s Demand Module, 9.62 introduces the ability to create requests from the Quick Edit page within a given request type without navigating away to a different page.

The PPM Micro Focus Connect connector is currently available as a Beta version. MF Connect allows you to easily sync PPM data like project information or requests to other tools like ALM Octane, ALM.Net, Jira, VersionOne, ServiceNow and Azure DevOps using pre-built Micro Focus Connectors.
