BSM 9.1's Interface can be dog slow

Does anyone get a bit frustrated with BSM's slower interface? The "cylon bar" gets old.

Re: BSM 9.1's Interface can be dog slow

I have never seen this problem in bsm 9.10

Can you share your desktop and server configuration?

Cheers!

Re: BSM 9.1's Interface can be dog slow

This is our demo environment. I have a 2GB Windows 7 with IE8 for the client. Since it is a demo environment it has to be a bit snappy. What do you think?

All servers are VMware VMs on ESXi 4.x.  The SQL server is a VM, but the databases are on a physical disk via iSCSI.

Re: BSM 9.1's Interface can be dog slow

Hi,

Can you please say in which screen you see this behavior?

How much time you wait for the screen to open?

Re: BSM 9.1's Interface can be dog slow

Alot of this happens in the dashboards as porlets paint using the applets and the same for the BPM and RUM views as they repaint their individual graphs using the applets. We've restarted and there seems a little improvement but quickly goes down hill again. It is usable but not snappy.

Our customers really desire snappy now because they are getting used to other apps being faster, and espeically because now everyone has smartphones and quickly drop apps that are as sluggish as BSM.

Re: BSM 9.1's Interface can be dog slow

One of the recently release patches (I believe 9.12.161) addressed a memory leak, but we are seeing bad performance too, on servers much higher spec'd than yours. Particularly in the RTSM applets, but also in Service Health when navigating hierarchy and loading reports, and context menus. Like you say people are very quick to bag performance of applications these days, especially when the backed servers are of such high specification/cost. These applets should be sharp, but in my experience that is not in the nature of java based applications.

Do you still have performance issues? Or did you find a solution for a slow RTSM?
