HP Sitescope 11.24 not connecting to Office 365

Hello if you have successfully setup or walked someone through setting up/using the Sitescope mail roundtrip tool, please assist.  This has never worked.

I have also tried plugging in the username different ways as well.  If you have any tips , screen shots , documentation that specifically shows office 365 setup , thank you.

I am able to ping and tracert from sitescope server:

smtp.domain.int

smtp.office365.com

outlook.office365.com (for pop)

outlook.office365.com (for pop and smtp)

We use HP Sitescope 11.24

Sending message to email@domain at mail server smtp.domain.int

-->  connecting to smtp.domain.int:25, timeout=60000

<-- 220 exchangeserver.na.domain.int Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service ready at Fri, 5 Sep 2014 09:17:41 -0400

--> EHLO sitescopeserver.na.domain.int

<-- 250-exchange.na.domain.int Hello [IP address]

<-- 250-SIZE 29286400

<-- 250-PIPELINING

<-- 250-DSN

<-- 250-ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES

<-- 250-AUTH

<-- 250-8BITMIME

<-- 250-BINARYMIME

<-- 250 CHUNKING

--> AUTH LOGIN

<-- 504 5.7.4 Unrecognized authentication type

The message could not be sent: java.net.ProtocolException: 504 5.7.4 Unrecognized authentication type

Re: HP Sitescope 11.24 not connecting to Office 365

Issue is that Office365 does not accept SMTP authentication over non-secured connection, that's why you get this response: 504 5.7.4 Unrecognized authentication type.

Have you checked SMTP SSL checkbox?

Re: HP Sitescope 11.24 not connecting to Office 365

Thank you for your reply.  Yes , I have checked SMTP/TTLS and also included port 587.  Then the error message becomes

If I use our internal SMTP

Sending message to username@domain.com at mail server smtp.domain.int

The message could not be sent: javax.mail.MessagingException: Could not convert socket to TLS;
  nested exception is:
    javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target

If I use the smtp.office365.com

Sending message to username@domain.com at mail server smtp.office365.com

The message could not be sent: javax.mail.AuthenticationFailedException: 535 5.7.3 Authentication unsuccessful

(For the User ID. I adjust it with

1. domain\username

2. username

3. username@domainname.com

4. firstname.lastname

5. firstname.lastname@domainname.com

6. domain\firstname.lastname

7.  domain\firstname.lastname@domainname.com

4. domain\username@domainname.com ))

Check if you can load and import some cerficate by connecting to target server on that port from certificate preferences then try again with SSL checked.

Re: HP Sitescope 11.24 not connecting to Office 365

Hi,

Did SiS load any certificate from preferences while connecting to SMTP server on port 587?
