RUM Engine and RUM Probe Query

We want to know if below is possible

1) 2 Engine can connect to 1 MySQL ?

2) 1 Probe can integrate with 2 RUM Engine (We have RUM Probe with 6 NIC and we want 3 NIC traffic data to report to 1 engine server and next 3 NIC traffic data to report to 2nd engine server)

Re: RUM Engine and RUM Probe Query

Hi Sagar1,

1.)
No, each RUM engine instance needs its own MySQL database instance.
It might (!) be possible to use ONE database with multiple instances,
but usually you have ONE RUM Engine using ONE MySQL database.

2.)
No. A give RUM probe can only be connected to one engine.
have a look at the
Real User Monitor Deployment Planning Guide
Chapter 4: Splitting Monitored Traffic by Engines/Probes
but this only explains how to split traffic between different probes.

I think the only way is to install two instances of the probe on the probe machine (this has been introduced with RUM 9.40),
check out the manual
  RUM Multi Instance Probe Deployment
and then have each of the probes connect to a different RUM engine, and each of the probe to three of the six NICs.

Afterwards you check out
Real User Monitor Deployment Planning Guide
Chapter 4: Splitting Monitored Traffic by Engines/Probes
to learn how to split traffic between different probes, which now run on one system.

Greetings
Siggi

Re: RUM Engine and RUM Probe Query

Thanks for your reply siggi.

I refered the document and we can install 2 engine and 2 mysql and connect it to APM.

My question is, can we select 2 engine for single APM application ? my worry is reports like session analyzer will work ? can they fetch data from 2 seprate engine and db and consolidate in one report ?

Please help.

Re: RUM Engine and RUM Probe Query

yes, single App can be configured with multiple engines.

note: sessions are correlated in each engine individually.

Re: RUM Engine and RUM Probe Query

Thanks Asaf for reply.

In our scenario. RUM Engine health is in critical state as BBRetriever total pages published and BBRetriever total pages published status is critical which means the rum engine is receiving traffic more than it can handle. Is there any setting to increase the maximum value of these parameter ?  or only solution for this type of issue is to install multiple engine and divide rum traffic by installing multiple rum probe on single server.

Thanks.
