Unable to copy monitors in SAM - BAC 8.03

Hi again all, bit stuck yet again...

 

 

I have BAC 8.03 with three integrated Sitescope profiles, one SiS v. 11.01 and two SiS v. 11.10.

I cannot copy monitors from one SiS to another within SAM, whether it's from 11.01 to 11.10, 11.10 to 11.01 or 11.10 to 11.10... I've tried downgrading my JRE on my client to 1.6.0u7, bit still no luck.

 

I also cannot find any errors in the logfiles on the BAC server, or any obvious errors in my Java Console.

 

We'll be upgrading our BAC to v. 8.07 sometime next week, but I'm not completely convinced this will solve it.

 

Has anyone else had this issue recently and if you managed to get it to work, how exactly?

We obviously got a 404 error when trying to copy or paste any monitors in BAC, URLs being:

http://OUR_BAC_URL/topaz/samadmin/CopyAction.do?siteScopeProfileId=_PROFILE_ID_&copyObjectId=_OBJECT_ID_
http://OUR_BAC_URL/topaz/samadmin/PasteAction.do?targetProfileId=_PROFILE_ID_&targetObjectId=_OBJECT_ID_


We then tried those URLs directly on the BAC server itself after RDPing to it, which gave us a 404 error (obviously), but mentioned something about not being able to find /jsps/sam/blank.jsp, so we did a search for blank.jsp and copied the blank.jsp file from $BAC_HOME$\AppServer\webapps\site.war\WEB-INF\BPM_Wizard\jsps\blank.jsp to $BAC_HOME$\AppServer\webapps\site.war\jsps\sam\blank.jsp.


Retried copying and pasting in SAM admin and lo and behold, no more 404 errors for either CopyAction.do or PasteAction.do. Which is just bizarre, but that's another story.

Problem still with us after upgradng BAC to 8.07, SiS still on 11.10.

No immediate errors noticeable anywhere.

 

Any help with this would be appreciated.

 

 

EDIT:

Interestingly, using HTTP Watch we got a 404 error for the following URL, which popped up after we selected SAM Actions... > Copy to other Sitescope:

 

http://OUR_BAC_URL/topaz/samadmin/CopyAction.do?siteScopeProfileId=_PROFILE_ID_&copyObjectId=_OBJECT_ID_

 

 

I'm thinking that there is no mapping between our Apache and JBoss/ Tomcat for *.do. I'm not too sure where one would check this though, I'm assuming in the httpd.conf file? If that's the case, there's no mapping present for it. Can I just add it and restart BAC?

I'm flying a bit blind here.

 

 

UPDATE:

 

Seems like it's not a mapping problem as I can connect to http://OUR_BAC_URL:8080/topaz/samadmin/GetSiteScopesList.do http://OUR_BAC_URL/topaz/samadmin/GetSiteScopesList.do just fine. It doesn't display anything, but no 404 errors.

It seems like CopyAction.do just doesn't exist in our case. Short of completely reinstalling BAC to fix this (which I doubt will fix it), is there perhaps another known fix or workaround?

Hi,

we have distributed architecture and have 2 GW ,2 DPS.

Let us know on which server we have to copy the blank.jsp file

Hi testbravo,

are you really running BAC 8.0x?

In that case, this strange workaround might apply.
If in doublt on what server to copy the file,
either try GWs first, if it doesn't work, DPS,
or simply do it onl all systems:
 copy blank.jsp file
  from $BAC_HOME$\AppServer\webapps\site.war\WEB-INF\BPM_Wizard\jsps\blank.jsp
  to $BAC_HOME$\AppServer\webapps\site.war\jsps\sam\blank.jsp

If you are running a recent version of BSM 9.2x, I would be very surpirsed if you would have the same issue.

BTW, on BSM 9.25 blank.jsp can be found at
 <HPBSM>\AppServer\webapps\site.war\WEB-INF\systemConsole\jsps\blank.jsp
it's an empty file ...

On that very box,
 <HPBSM>\AppServer\webapps\site.war\jsps\sam\blank.jsp
contains:

<html>
<head>
<title>blank html</title>
</head>
<body>
</body>
</html>

So after running into this same issue and googling, I came across this old post from donkey years ago. It absolutely blows my mind that this is seemingly still a problem in 2019 on version 9.40.81 of APM...

To anyone else running into this issue (and many thanks to Siggi for updating the steps), do this on your gateway or gateways (Edited for clarity):

Copy blank.jsp file
from $BAC_HOME$\AppServer\webapps\site.war\WEB-INF\systemConsole\jsps\blank.jsp
to $BAC_HOME$\AppServer\webapps\site.war\jsps\sam\blank.jsp

 

@MicroFocus, would it please be possible to just implement this as a permanent fix in all future builds? This was a problem back when it was still called BAC. In the 8 years since, this product has gone through 2 name changes and a change of ownership, how is this possibly still not permamently fixed?
