Anyone attempt a SC install on RHEL 7.4 yet?

It errors out (see attached).  First I've ever seen this with any version or combo of SC/RHEL version.

Workaround is: yum erase java-1.8.0-openjdk-headless.x86_64 1:1.8.0.131-11.b12.el7

With that said, there still seems to be some lingering issues.  Anyone try this yet?  Run into any issues otherwise?

Fully aware RHEL 7.4 is unsupported at this point.

Thanks,

Mike

Re: Anyone attempt a SC install on RHEL 7.4 yet?

There is an open bug with Red Hat on a font issue with the later versions of OpenJDK.

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1479563

Work around is to switch back to Utopia fonts in /etc/fonts/local.conf.  Patches in 1.8.1.131 switched the font to STIX.  This doesn't work right with the headless java in OpenJDK,

/etc/fonts/local.conf

<?xml version='1.0'?>
<!DOCTYPE fontconfig SYSTEM 'fonts.dtd'>
<fontconfig>
  <alias>
    <family>serif</family>
    <prefer><family>Utopia</family></prefer>
  </alias>
  <alias>
    <family>sans-serif</family>
    <prefer><family>Utopia</family></prefer>
  </alias>
  <alias>
    <family>monospace</family>
    <prefer><family>Utopia</family></prefer>
  </alias>
  <alias>
    <family>dialog</family>
    <prefer><family>Utopia</family></prefer>
  </alias>
  <alias>
    <family>dialoginput</family>
    <prefer><family>Utopia</family></prefer>
  </alias>
</fontconfig>

Re: Anyone attempt a SC install on RHEL 7.4 yet?

Hi guys
I face the same problem when installing Operations Bridge Manager 2018.05 on RHEL 7.5

Installing dejavu serif fonts fixes the problem:

yum install dejavu-serif-fonts

Getting same error trying to install Logger 6.7 on RHEL 6.6.

This was my solution as well.

Re: Anyone attempt a SC install on RHEL 7.4 yet?

We didn't have openjdk installed in the first place, managed to install 7.10 SC without it, but went to upgrade to 7.11 and ran into this exact same issue.

Installing v1.6 worked.

Have not had problems with it on any 7.4 machine. I don't ever use the GUI though, that might make a difference.

I have smart connector running on CentOs 7.5 with no problem, I am not using any GUI.

Re: Anyone attempt a SC install on RHEL 7.4 yet?

For me, smartconnectors from 7.9 version is working on CentOS 7.6 and RHEL 7.5 (Maipo). I have now about 40 connectors in that SC/OS combination without any problems.

Re: Anyone attempt a SC install on RHEL 7.4 yet?

I have the same issue with 7.12 connector. You will need to install all these rpms if you do not have yum install. The note is found on 7.12 release notes, it will be easier to follow the command given if you have yum install.

The rpms required are in the screenshot.
