I am using CentOS-7-x86_64-DVD-1611.iso:

[arcsight@esm611 ~]$ cat /etc/redhat-release
CentOS Linux release 7.3.1611 (Core)

Once I tried to install (as per the guide) using web server and "compatability Libraries" and "Developmrnt Tools" but the installation failed

Another time, I tried using "minimal install" and "compatability Libraries" only and then "yum install -y bind-utils pciutils tzdata zip unzip", but failed again

Any idea how to get to a successful installation?

I was installing on a lab system just last week.

I too saw the long list of failures about 20 minutes into the instalation.

It turns out that the directory did not have the proper write permissions.

Once I did that, the installation was successful.

Hi  brian.wolff@hpe

First of all, thanks for your response

But what directory you provided write permission for to get a successful installation?

Before stating the installation i changed ownership of /opt and /tmp to arcsight but in vain

Also I tried the installation again and provided write permission for /opt folder but again failed
