Filter Out question

I tried to create a filter out condition where 'end time < dd mmm yyyy hh:mm:ss' but It seemed as though the connector continues to forward events to the manager that have an end time less than the data I specified. Any thoughts, comments, tips, tricks? Did I miss something? Can you not filter out events in this manner? I want prevent events that are older than a couple of days from being sent in to my manager because it seems to be having an impact on my partitions and archives.
