How can you force a file connector to read the file from start?

Jump to solution

We have a connector reading the access log for apache on Linux. It died a while back and was unfortunately not noticed till quite some time later. It was quickly corrected after detection and is sending logs. The issue is all the events from the file that were not sent due to the connector being down. I would like to assume that there's a parameter that will force the connector to read and forward events from the start of the log file. Anyone happen to know if that's true and how it might be exploited? Additionally, there are no stored cache files in ./agentdata and we would have exceeded the cache size anyway during the outage.

Thanks in advance,

Hi Adam,

you can set a parameter in the agent.properties ($ConnectorHome/current/user/agent):

agents[x].startatend=true / false

Setting this to false will make the connector start at the beginning of the file.

Don't forget to set it back once all Events got transferred, else another crash might result in alot duplicate data.

BR,

Christoph
