How to massively add destination to SmartConnectors?

Jump to solution

Hello everyone,

I am currently involved in upgrading an arcsight 5.0SP2 platform to 5.2. Due to some restrictions, the ESM will be a fresh installation on a new machine, so every SmartConnector will need to have a new destination added. Is there any way to do this in a massive way (100+ connectors)? As the configuration of the connectors is destination-based, can this configuration be copied from one destination to another somehow fast?

Kind regards,

Gabriel

Regarding the configuration, you can Import / Export the configuration out of the Console

Thank you Manuel.

What about destinations? Is there any fancy way to register a ton of connectors?

Gabriel

Conapp can do this.

I agree,

a MGMT ConApp is very handy for this task.

Simply add all your connectors to the ConApp GUI, then check all of them at the "Connectors"-Tab, and go through the process to add a destination. The SSL-certificate will be imported as well.

On the cons side the part of activating remote management to all of your connectors might be as time-consuming as adding a destination manually. 😕

Good luck!

If you are only going to use a ConnApp to remotely manage SmartConnectors (and define connections), I strongly recommend that you check out ArcSight product: ArcMc (Management Console).

It can do what you described and more than a ConnApp can do.

Gabriel,

If you are on *nix:

You can replace your existing destination names on all your connectors quickly via -

perl -pi -w -e 's/old_destination_name/new_destination_name/g' /*/connector*/current/user/agent/agent.properties

Replace the shortened (/*/) path above obviously with the full path to your connectors.
