Is it possibe to sum up a value in active list?

Jump to solution

Dear All,

I have a case here where I want to sum the values in a list.

Is it possible that lists sums up the value: suppose we have user "A" who downloads "100 Bytes" this value will be fed in list. Then within a span of time he again downloads "200 bytes", I want that list gives me a value User "A" - "300 Bytes".

Please suggest if any ideas.

Thanking in advance.

Hi,

That is certainly possible since you only have to define your Integer field with a subtype of SUM in your active list as follows:

Capture.PNG

In your example, the first time user A is added to the list, the field would contain 100 bytes and then when you update this entry again, say with 200 bytes, the field would contain 100+200= 300 bytes.

Hi Vaibhav,

You can create a query which queries from the AL, then generate a report with the query.

Hi Michel,

Thank you for the reply, it certainly looks simple though I'm not sure why I'm not not getting any thing in the sub-type value.

Is it some ESM version specific. I'm using Express 3.0, console 5.1.

I can see this feature is available in 6.0.

Thanks

Hi Jay,

I had tried that but I want same AL to be populated without human intervention.

Any Ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

From memory it's a relatively recent addition and may not be available in Express 3, it is available in Express 4. With Jay's suggestion above you could do the following:

  1. Have an initial ActiveList that accepts the events with the values
  2. Query the ActiveList and sum by user
  3. Populate a Trend from the query
  4. On Trend population add an action to add to a second ActiveList
  5. Use the second ActiveList for your rules etc
