Re: MSSQL databases on RHEL 7.0 version

Hello,

SmartConnector for Microsoft SQL Server Multiple Instance Audit DB should work on Linux as I assume that MSSQL running on the Linux has SQL Server Authentication.

The limitation is when MSSQL is running on Windows platform and has configured Windows authentication but SmartConnector is running from Linux platform, then the "sqljdbc_auth.dll" that is needed for Windows authentication is not usable on Linux platform and stops SmartConnector from working, therefore it needs to be installed on Windows platform to use "dll" file or configure the Microsoft SQL Server for Mixed Mode Authentication or SQL Server Authentication.

Regards,

Marijo

Re: MSSQL databases on RHEL 7.0 version

Hello Marijo ,

Thank you for update. If MSSQL database is hosted on Linux host then can we configure connector on windows host or we have to configure connetcor on linux based host only.

Hello,

no, it is not mandatory to install SmartConnector on Linux if the MSSQL is running on it.

You can install SmartConnector on diffrent supported platform (like for example Windows). What is important is network connectivity, DB user (auth type as mentioned before and what this user can do in DB) and that JDBC driver is in place (downloaded from Microsoft website as noted in the Guide).

Marijo
