Multiple SmartConnectors on ESM

Jump to solution

Hi folks,

Have a basic question regarding installing another SmartConnector on our ESM.  Currently our set up is we have our ESM sitting on our RHEL 6.4 box.  So far I set up the first connector and it's working fine.  I wanted to setup another SmartConnector on the same box.  What would be the process in adding a second SmartConnector to our box?

Thanks

Hi Jason,

Nothing Much... Just Install as same but remember:

  • Install in Different Dir.
  • Name the Services and Ports accordingly and no overlap on this.
  • Not the same logs are used by Both Smartconn.

Guys more Suggestions

What Balahason wrote is correct. There might be a little complication if you want to have a 2nd connector of the same type (like two syslog_file readers) on the same box. You must change the service name by adding -sn <somename> when running the arcsight agentsvc command as root.

jring, thanks for the heads up.  I know that as we go further there will be more connectors being made.  The case of the same type of connectors is a likely possibility so I appreciate the tip.
