Port 1433 is unidirectional or bidirectional ?

Jump to solution

Hi All,

To integrate SQL DB with Arcsight, is required to open TCP 1433 in "bidirectional" ? Is there any benifit because of that or any impact ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Libin,
It can be oppened as unidirectional between connector server and DB server (1433 allowed at DB server).
Troubleshooting steps:
TO check this communication you can telnet <DB server IP> 1433 from your Arcsight Connector Server.
If telnet does not work check if there is any firewall between and acl is there to allow this commincation.
if communciation is allwed check on DB server if you can self tenlet to port 1433.
If you are not able to self telnet on 1433 check if there is tlnet cloent is runnig/allowed on DB server, if it is allow check DB manager in TCP/IP protocol for IP allocation and Port.

With refrence to Marijo's reply he mean to say that if you observe any errors or anomally you can run wireshark and check excatly where is the issue.

Hello,

simple way is to make traffic capture (between SmartConnector host and DB host) and see traffic flow. This will give insight into the situation.

For example SmartConnector is connecting to DB, so logically you need to be able to access DB port from SmartConnector host (so the port needs to be open on DB host to access from outside). But as I noted above, if any issues, traffic capture and see where is the problem.
