SmartConnector: Problem connecting to McAfee NSM Database

Jump to solution

I'm running into an issue connecting to a database using a standard connector.

Error:  0: Unable to load JDBC Driver

SmartConnector:     5.2.5.6395 (I have tried 3 others, so I'm pretty sure it's not a Connector version issue)

Anyone run into this before and have pointers for me?

Benjamin,

Apologies but I told you to download the wrong driver.

What you need is a MySQL driver and not mssql.

Get the MySQL driver from their website and you should be fine.

Don't know where my head was when I told you to the mssql one.

Let me know how it goes.

You need to download the driver from Microsoft and put that into

current/user/agent/lib and then restart the connector.

You can get the driver from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=11774

You might have to remove the number 4 from the name of the file. Try it

and if it doesnt work then remove the number 4 form the name.

Thanks for the quick response! No joy, same issue. I even added the driver to the current/jre/lib as well with no success. Was just trying to make sure I wasn't missing something (which apparently I am). Other thoughts?

Hi,

Do you use a connector appliance or software connector? Keep in mind that you have to allow the connector to grab the events from IPS database.

We use the MySQL driver 5.0.8 (mysql-connector-java-5.0.8-bin.jar) and have a connector appliance. Just go to Setup - Repositories - JDBC Drivers, click on "Upload To Repository", choose "Individual files", path is correct in next step, choose the *.jar file and GO!

Just upload the repository to the connector and it should work now,

Did you able you to resolve it ?

if not, first identify the version of the DB and locate the jdbc driver for it from internet and place it in jre/lib

please only the jar file.

if it is connector appliance then you may need to upload it to repositary.

I hope this helps.

Anwar

Hi,

I just overcome the issue which you are referring to, as below:

OS- 64bit Windows server

Connector type- 64bit

ODBC driver I installed - mysql-connector-odbc-5.2.7-winx64 (you can download it from MySQL :: Download Connector/ODBC )

Please install ODBC driver before running the smartconnector.

Hope this works for you.
