What does the green arrow on the top of a case mean?

We recently noticed a green arrow pointing to the right on the upper right corner of some of our case icons listed in the Navigator pannel. Thus far I haven't been able to find a difference in once case from another that might explain the image. Anyone know what it means?

I believe the little green arrow represents the "External ID" being populated. I believe more often than not, that field is used to store the "ticket id" from an external ticketing system.
