Arcsight Smartconnector JDBC Connection failed

Hi All,

I'm trying to install the Arcsight smartconnector on a solaris box to monitor Oracle database audit.

The installation is successful but during the configuration, when it is time to add the jdbc driver; When I entered it in the right format and press enter, it just goes ahead to try connecting without asking me for a user or password.

Has anyone experienced this?

Re: Arcsight Smartconnector JDBC Connection failed

Hi,

Which JDBC driver did you choose?

you need - oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver

then you'll get the other options, such as:

DB url : jdbc:oracle:thin:@hostname_or_IP:1521:database_name

DB User: <userName>

DB pass: <Password>

Config Folder: <your folder name which located under ARCSIGHT_HOME\user\agent\flexagent\>

Re: Arcsight Smartconnector JDBC Connection failed

Hi Dan,

Thanks. When i enter the DB url and press enter,

itdoesnt prompts for the username and it starts connecting without me putting the username.

can it be the fact that they are using a putty client to connect or whats your take?

Re: Arcsight Smartconnector JDBC Connection failed

For Oracle jdbc connection string, be sure to use a forward slash (not colon) before the database_name:

jdbc:oracle:thin:@hostname_or_IP:1521/database_name

Re: Arcsight Smartconnector JDBC Connection failed

Hi Christopher,

the documentation refers to colon (":").
are you sure you are using jdbc for Oracle? if yes, what is the connector version?
