Re: ESM Appliance / SW

The ESM "appliance" is not actually an appliance if you ask me.  It only comes with Linux (Oracle) installed and you must install both Oracle and ESM.  They don't even partition the drives the recommended way.  Any updates are handled the same as any other ESM system.

When they released the Oracle upgrade with 5.0 SP1 it took them months (3+) to release the necessary updates to the Oracle Linux to allow us to upgrade the appliance.  I have never been so disappointed with soemthing from ArcSight.

All that said, we do not have any issues with the hardware or performance that we get from the "appliances".

Re: ESM Appliance / SW

Thanks for the info.... We are using ESM software and the performance is worst, to generate a weekly report it is taking long time and the events are loading slowly into console. Whenever we log a case with support they are asking us to do regenerate event stats but the issue remains same. So,planning to procure ESM appliance, does it solve our issue??

Re: ESM Appliance / SW

Hi,

we are using the latest ESM appliance E7400 with HP hardware. It's right that it is a normal server, but with full support from ArcSight. It's the only appliance / server which is "certified" from ArcSight. And it is allowed and supported to install Manager and Database on one device.

Re: ESM Appliance / SW

Hi,

Thanks for the info... The currnet ESM Software (MSSP setup) which we are using having a database size of more than 1 TB and we have 1500+ log sources, 1 Year retention policy.... And we will be adding new customers to the same setup. Does ESM appliance supports this configuration. If so, please share the maximum EPS, Log sources it can with stand. Is there any limitation? Please share your views.
