Is it possible to use Excel files as an event resource?

Hi, Community!

I'm wondering if I can read events from .xls (.xlsx) files with the Connector Appliance? May be somehow using it as a database?

I know about the opportunity to convert excel data to csv, xml and txt format, but I need to use exactly excel files.

I'm not very familiar with ConApp, but if I have to use .xls as event source I will go following way:

1 - simple variant: use windows-based machine, create and ODBC-datasource, then user in flex jdbc:odbc:<ODBC-datasource-name> - fast to implement, simple to use, reliable, because use standard MS drivers, but need an VM or server with Windows.

But we have Linux-based ConnApp

So, to read .xls file as DB from java we need jdbc-driver for .xls - google say there are such one - http://sourceforge.net/projects/xlsql/ or http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4580071/open-source-jdbc-driver-for-excel-csv-files-on-a-maven-repo

Never try these drivers, but from my point of view: if have enough time to implement and support these drivers on ConApp - you can try
