export data to Excel

Hi,

In the Asset Manager there is a possibility to open one of the AM views and export the data into excel or another file type (Utilities -> export the list).

Is there a possibility to achieve this functionality through function in custom action?

Our customer has requirement to execute SQL/AQL query during one of the custom actions and the gathered data exported into excel/csv file.

Thank you very much for any advice.
