workstation usage

Not sure if this is the correct forum to post this and apologies if it is.

I work at a school and am trying to determine if computers and particulary laptops are being used. I need informations such as user logins, how long logged in for, dates etc

Basically trying to determine whether the PCs are being used or simply dust collectors.

If Zen can do it or whether there's a simple third party progam which will do the trick.

Thanks in adavance
