DDMI 9.30 is now shipping

I am proud to announce that DDMI 9.30 is now shipping.

In this release we have added a number of new capabilities designed to expand DDMI’s strong set of software inventory capabilities and to improve the implementation of the product in complex and secure environments.

Software inventory is one of the core capabilities of the product.  DDMI has very strong software recognition capabilities, but we always look for new ways to collect software inventory data.  In this release we are adding support for collection of ISO 19770-2 software identification tags. This will allow customers to immediately identify all software that provides tags, potentially reducing administrative overhead.  DDMI is also now shipping with ISO 19770-2 compliant tags.  In addition to ISO tags, we have also added specialized capabilities to identify Oracle software.  With this new capabilities, many of the Oracle software titles will be correctly inventoried, including information about installed options, etc that were not previously available.

Another area where DDMI has improved is in the support of complex and secure business environments. Here we have added 2 new components to the product.  Store and Forward server provides DDMI with the ability to move DDMI inventory scan files securely across multiple firewalls.  Coupled with this capability is a scanner scheduler for a standalone DDMI scanner.  Since in secured environment, DDMI server may not be able to reach the target system directly, it may be necessary to install a scanner on the target system, execute it and then send the results to the DDMI server for processing.  Scanner scheduler allows you to setup a schedule on which data will be collected on the target system.  The scanner will then send the results to the first Store and Forward server and the file will eventually reach the DDMI server.  The third improvement in this area is in DDMI’s “agent-less” inventory capabilities – with this release we support SSH key based authentication, in addition to the ID/password based approach supported in previous releases.

If you already own DDMI, I encourage you to adopt the latest release.  If you don’t already own it – reach out to your HP sales rep for more information.
