Related fields to be created

Hi All,

I have a requirement from one of the customer in Asset Manager (9.7 version). I have three custom fields (Category and SubCategory and Area) created in Asset screen. Category has some values like Hardware, Software, Infrastructure, etc. SubCategory field has corresponding values (eg: Desktops, laptops) for "Hardware" category. Now the requirement is when the user selects "Hardware" against Category field, then user should see corresponding subcategory values only (Desktops, laptops).  When user selects "Desktops" against SubCategory then corresponding Area values only should be displayed.

Please suggest if this is possible in AM?

Re: Related fields to be created

If you search this forum you will see filtering itemized lists cannot happen in AM.  You will be better off with an array table, separate tables for the different lists, separate fields/itemized list and irrelevance attributes for the different combinations, etc.

Thanks Mark for the reply. I had the work around of creating multiple fields and update the irrelevance scripts but it would be difficult to maintain over a period of time.

Re: Related fields to be created

Only as difficult as the requirements changing and no different than if it was possible.  You could always leave itemized list values alone, and not worry about dynamic filtering, then code validity script to raise error when selections do not match requirements.
