WPP: out of memory. Close other applications and try again - delete more than 2 records

Hello All,

We recently installed Asset Manager 9.32 on a development server

Windows Server 2008 R2
HP Asset Manager Client 9.32 (build 9772, and also tried 9774)

Windows Oracle Client 11.2.0.01 (32-bit)

Oracle 11GR2 Database Server (Linux - Default setup,  Character Set = AL32UTF8)

We created a blank database, and loaded the default table data using Application Designer..

Problem we are running into is that the AM client throws a "WPP: out of memory.  Close other applications and try again" when selecting and deleting more than two records at a time.  For example - selecting 3 "amlocation" rows, then hitting delete.   The three rows being deleted are just test rows, with Name and BarCode like "TEST1","TEST2","TEST3".

Deleting one row at a time seems to work just fine.  Additionally, our DB2 9.7 (9.32 AM) out of box instance seems to be running into the same problem.   We don't believe it has anything to do with the DB backend.

We enabled the adbLog and don't see any database errors being issued at all when the delete happens.

Re: WPP: out of memory. Close other applications and try again - delete more than 2 records

George,

There used to be a similar problem in AM5.12 and it happened when deleting a record with many sub-records undelying. this however seems to me like a different issue. I think it's worth opening a support call to troubleshoot further

regards,

We have a ticket opened with them, was hoping somebody else ran into the problem.

When we set "Options/Advanced Mode/CommitDeletesOneByOne" = "No"  (wrap all row deletes in one transaction - instead of transaction per row)

which isn't the default - we are able to delete more than two at a time so there's nothing in the underlying database causing the issue.

The CommitDeletesOneByOne doesn't really fix the problem. The second delete transaction always fails with OOM.

Hi,

We are also facing the same issue in AM 9.5, do we have any solution for this ?

Many thanks in advance.

Re: WPP: out of memory. Close other applications and try again - delete more than 2 records

Hi George,

One of my clients is on HPAM 9.32 (b9774) at the moment and we have no issues multi-selecting several hundred records at a time.  Have you already tried it with the ADBLog enabled to see the query being generated?  Also... is it just specific tables?

With DB2 I could see it hanging forever do to some kind of Transaction Locking, but the WPP OOM error is a strange one.  Generally see that if something has gone strangelly in a Script.  Perhaps check if there are any WF's being triggered on Delete?  The HPAM client is most likelly getting into some kind of loop.  Again the ADBLog would be the next thing I would want to see to try and pin it down.

Cheers,

Russ
