What techniques are available in HPAM to import information via scheduled tasks?

Right now additions and changes to user records occurs when someone imports a CSV file of information into Asset Manager.

The users of the system have asked whether there is a way within HPAM to schedule an import to occur regularly.

So far we have not been able to locate anything in the documentation about such functionality.

Has anyone worked out a way for such a thing to work?

We can do it relatively simply in HP Service Manager but have not found any way to do it within Asset Manager.

Thank you

Hi Iwvirden,

There is a way to import the information via scheduled tasks in Connect IT, for it you need to install the tool Scheduler console.

For more information about it and to get the hold steps to do it you can open a case with CIT.

Thank you so much for replying.

Alas, we don't have CIT so that's not an option for us.

Right now we are trying to figure out the steps necessary to use the command line interface safely.

Iwvirden,

Yes, in Asset Manager that is the only way to export such data since we are integrated with CIT and the mentioned tool is the way we used to do it.

Re: What techniques are available in HPAM to import information via scheduled tasks?

CIT is the usual way to interface with external systems/files however you could utilize the Import module of Asset Manager along with a scheduled workflow.  It is too much to get into the specifics however the scheduled workflow would be executed via APM service and the workflow would call an executable type action with this action having the necessary command line logic (see help for amimpl.exe and parameters to use).  There would have to be a dedicated windows directory folder where the csv file and import script is stored.  A login account with admin rights is also needed.
