AIX Servers Discovery and Push to AM

Hi All

We have discovered AIX boxes, but the Serial number is NULL as they are in the same rack . Our sysadmin team confirms there are no serial numbers available On them .

We wrote an enrichmnet rule to update the serial number with HOst Name-Global ID , but when the rediscovery runs, it creates a new node with the same name as the Serial number is different .

We cannot keep the serial number as blank as well as the nodes needs to be pushed to AM .

Please advice, if anyone has come across the same situation .

Regards

Re: AIX Servers Discovery and Push to AM

Serial number is a part of reconciliation rule. It shows host uniqness. So, this is expected behaviour.

WHere the restriction when pushing to AM is coming from? Is it from AM side?

Re: AIX Servers Discovery and Push to AM

If the restriction is on the AM side, then you can easily create the serial numbers in your AM push mapping files as the CIs details/attributes are sent over for AIX servers.

This will keep the serial number field blank in the UCMDB, but should work with your integration.

You could also modify the reconcilation in the UCMDB, but this isn't recommended.

Re: AIX Servers Discovery and Push to AM

Thanks Chris & Dimitry  for your response .

I am using the AM push Adapter . The query it uses to push the data to AM : NOT NULL Serial_NUmber.  Hence those AIZ boxes are not getting pushed to AM  and from AM side unique serial number is mandatory when creating an asset .
