Adding attributes to already discovered severs

In my company we have about 1000 servers belonging to different departments, but there are no naming convention so servers are different by numbers, not department. Now i want to have a new field/attribute in all server CI's which tell me what dep they belong to.

I believe i have to import a list with the servernames and the department it belongs to, but i'm not sure how to do it. Can you please help me out?

Jorn

Re: Adding attributes to already discovered severs

Hello Jorn,

You have 2 options.
1. Create a simple script that will parse the import list and update the CIs.
2. Use the OOTB functionality to create Integration Adapter "Import Topology from CSV File / Excel Workbook" You should investigate into how to use this out of the box adapter to serve your needs. I guess there is documentation for that available.

With the first option you have full control on what you want to achieve. With the second you don't have to understand how to code but you are limited to the out of the box functionality(which might be enough for your needs).

Nick
