Agent Ping/Scan log in UD

Hi Experts,

 

Like the agent ping/ip ping/scan log in DDMI, what is the way to perform the same in UD (UCMDB)?

Hi Sakthi ,

Not clear of the question but UD works with Concept of Management Zone (DDMi +DDMa ) and You execute pre defined Jobs which is avaible with industry standard Protocols and Adapters defined for them probe and get the intended results Also this would agent less DDMa approach with required credentials So in all simple words depending on your requirement youu need to decide the approach .

Ping Sweep Question you visit UD Disocvery Control Module --Discovery Modules and Jobs Go to Network Infrasture --Basic --Ranges by ICMP should do the Trick --this would be possible only when you have a probe with particular IP ranges Defined and you select the same in properties of the Discovery Job.

Thanks for the info.

 

But my question is, if you know DDMI we can do an agent ping/SNMP ping from the diagnostics control. This can be done for any particular device which was discovered. We can know whether the agent is responding or not. Same way, once we have the UD agent installed in the end node (Not DDMA approach), how do I perform Agent Ping?

You can test communication to the Agent by going to

Data Flow Management > DefaultDomain > Credentials > Universal Discovery Protocol

Right click on the UDA record and choose Check credentials

 

This will enable you to perform an Agent Ping for a device.

Hi Folks

Sakthi If you want narrow down to UD agent responsiveness ,please check in Edit Management Zone Section of Scheduled Jobs when you select any Job which is already created you narrow down to it for particular Device by setting only to device IP ranges --Right Click on Job name and select Define Partial ranges on Data flow Probes --Assuming you have deplyed agent on the target device you can then look for agent Ping activity
